Face it . . . we are ALL creatures of habit! From a young age, we've been taught to brush our teeth, bathe when we're dirty, wash our hands after using the restroom. We didn't just KNOW these, we were taught these and then we repeated them consistently and they became HABIT.
These "rituals" that we practice daily give us a feeling of "control". Perhaps they soothe us or maybe the opposite . . . maybe they get us amped up. Either way, we practice routine because it gives us something that we desire at that particular time.
Where am I going with this? Well, typically my day begins WAY before the sun comes up and ends pretty much as the sun is going down. That's just what the need is for my clients - train them before work and after work and a few in between.
With my alarm going off sometime around 4:00 a.m. on a daily basis, I need something to look forward too. My morning ritual is SO important to me. It gets me up, out the door and happily awaiting my clients who are ready to workout at 5:00 a.m.
So, what is my morning routine? What gets me out of bed in the morning? Well, as silly as this might seem . . . here it is:
4:00 a.m. Alarm goes off
4:03 a.m. Coffee is being brewed
4:15 - 4:30 a.m. I check my email, do a little bit of social media work for my business and check facebook all while sipping a hot cup of coffee and eating a KIND bar or Lara bar. (With coffee, these are the greatest)
4:30 a.m. I make my protein pancake that I will eat after a few sessions with clients.
4:45 a.m. I leave for the gym
This doesn't seem like much, but it is so important to my state of mind and how I leave the house and prep myself for my clients. As a professional, there is no way I could ever roll right out of bed, into the car and off to the session without some prep/ME time to get myself ready. It wouldn't be fair to ME or my CLIENTS.
What is YOUR morning ritual? How do you prep yourself for the day? Remember, rituals are important for "peace of mind" and prepping you for what is to come. So, if you don't have a routine to get yourself ready for the day, find one. You may find yourself more focused and less overwhelmed as you move into your day.
